Domus Iulii B&B started in Cividale del Friuli at the end of 2012 in an ancient medieval building dating back to the 17th century. Completely renovated before the opening to offer every comfort to its guests, it has preserved the traditional aspect of an Italian house of the beginning of the 20th century. The name DOMUS IULII (JULIUS’ HOUSE) refers to the city founder, Julius Caesar and is also a reminder of the original roman name of the city, FORUM IULII (meaning Julius’ market ), founded in 50-56 b.C. The statue of the founder, which stands in front of the town hall, looks directly at the B&B, which is located in the city center.
At Domus iulii you will find a place rich in history. Did you know that in Cividale wherever you dig you will find Roman and Lombard remains? These empires that lived here are what shaped the city as it is today.
