Kot Waterfalls

The Kot waterfalls are a small naturalistic jewel. It is an itinerary suitable for everyone as long as you pay minimal attention to the particularly slippery terrain. The start takes place on a wide track that immediately enters the broad-leaved forest, keeping to the orographic right edge of the Rio Patok and its tributary Pod Tamoran. Once upon a time it was the water that ran continuously throughout the year that provided the energy for the mills. Along this stream, about 150 meters from the start of the route, we can observe, on the other side of the bed, the moss-covered ruins of a mill and the furrow where the water derivation passed can also be seen. We continue following the bends of the river, with the possibility of easily approaching it to closely observe pools and waterfalls, always evocative of suggestions. Where the track intersects a watershed, we find a rest point equipped with a bench and table: it is from here that the route continues on the path. After a few steps you return to the water between slippery roots and stones completely covered in moss, given the humidity and the little light that filters into the gorge. After a boulder on which the metal box with the signature book has been secured, the path begins to deviate from the bed of the stream, rising just above the bed. Wooden handrails protect this stretch of the route and also the short final staircase that leads to our destination. Looking for the easiest passages, you go up to the small basin enclosed between the waterfall of the Kot waterfalls on the left and a beautiful flow of moss on the right. A cave near the waterfall houses a small statue of the Madonna: you can get close, if the water flow allows it. Finally, don't fail to observe, just before the waterfall, the greater butcher's broom, a rare endemism of this gorge protected from the wind.
