Mulinuss area

You know, Cividale is rich in history and evocative places where you can savor all of this… The area of Via Mulinuss is particularly suggestive, due to its urban structure and naturalistic context.
There were two threads that linked the mills of Cividale together: the roggia dei Mulini and the Natisone. The first, built by the Venetians, carried water and along its route there were dozens of mills, while on the banks of the Natisone, since the Middle Ages, there were millstones. Since the river was subject to disastrous floods and its banks were impervious, it was decided to increase the presence of mills along the canal. Along the cobbled ups and downs that crosses the area, a system of wheels with paddles placed along the watercourse is still visible.
