In fact the river allowed them to reach the proximities of the city of Aquileia  and of course the sea.\n\nThe river links us to different people and territories, and it is on this river that a unique character lived and composed poetry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OLIVIERO PELCI, known in the city by the name \u201cOLIVO the poet\u201d was a free soul who lived on the banks of the river. He lived in a hut he made himself and used parts of an old war airplane to sail the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the most remembered part is that he would compose a poem a day and he would write it on the sand so that it could be read by the Devil\u2019s bridge.\n\nOvernight the water would then erase the poem so that Olivo would have a clean slate for the next day.\n\nThis is one of his poems:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo you, there you stand,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>looking at this beauty<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I salute you , please accept it,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>it is not a grand gesture<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>do not bow or kiss hands<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>but I send you my breezes and a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friulian greeting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This poem is a welcoming greeting for the travellers who would stand on the Devil\u2019s bridge and gaze at the beautiful view of the river Natisone, the mountains and the city.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Il Natisone rappresenta la storia di Cividale, gli antichi romani decisero di fondere la FORUM IULII sulle sponde di questo fiume che coinfluiva col fiume Natissa che lambiva l\u2019antica Aquileia e consentiva alle imbarcazioni, attraverso il porto fluviale che i romani avevano costruito, di raggiungere il nostro mare.
